Rules of Golf & Competition

The Rules of Golf are jointly administered by The R&A and the USGA, with England Golf responsible for their promotion and education within England. DCGU supports its affiliated clubs and players in understanding and applying the Rules of Golf correctly.

Rules of Golf
The current Rules of Golf (2023 edition) govern all DCGU competitions. A full copy is available from The R&A or England Golf, and all players are expected to be familiar with the Rules before entering county competitions.
DCGU Competition Rules
In addition to the Rules of Golf, DCGU operates under its own General Terms of Competition, League Rules, and Knockout Rules. These documents are available to download from the Policies page.
Rules Education
England Golf provides online Rules of Golf courses and assessments for players and officials. DCGU encourages all club members and competition organisers to undertake rules training to improve standards of play across the county.
Rules Queries
For rules queries arising during DCGU competitions, contact the relevant competition referee or the County Secretary. Queries relating to club-level play should be directed to your home club in the first instance.
